A Simple Gutter Maintenance Schedule for Every Season

Most homes do fine with two gutter cleanings a year: once in late spring after seed pods and blossoms have dropped, and once in late fall after the last leaves come down. Homes under heavy tree cover often need a mid-summer check as well.

Between cleanings, a quick visual check after any major storm is worth the five minutes it takes: look for water spilling over the sides during rain, sagging sections, or downspouts that are not draining. Any of those is a sign debris has built up past what can wait for the next scheduled visit.

Ignoring clogged gutters does not just risk overflow — water backed up in a gutter finds its way behind fascia boards and siding, and eventually toward the foundation. A cleaning that takes an hour is far cheaper than repairing what backed-up water damages over a season.
