Meadow Vista is spread out rather than built around a main street. It was first counted as its own census-designated place in 1980 and has grown steadily since, almost entirely as single-family homes set on wooded foothill lots. For a cleaning crew that means driving from house to house through the trees, not working down a block of similar homes.
The trees are what shape the work here. Oak and pine stand over most lots, so leaves, needles and fine litter end up in places a valley house rarely sees them:
- Gutters and downspouts, which fill faster under a canopy
- Window tracks and sills, where needles and grit collect between visits
- Vents and entry floors, where debris gets pulled or carried inside
- Shaded roofs, where moss has an easier time taking hold
Summer adds the usual dry-season dust on top of the tree debris, and it settles on sills and open shelves the same as anywhere in the region. Fall is when gutter work makes the most sense here, ahead of the winter storms.
Inside, the homes are a mix of single-story and two-story, and the newer houses usually carry more built-in storage than the older ones on the community's original lots. All of ZIP 95722 is covered, and the drive from our Sacramento base is about 40 minutes.
