Getting equipment to the carpet is the Auburn variable. Old Town's vintage cottages are more likely to be single-story, with carpet at ground level and a short path from the door. Some newer construction and hillside properties on the outskirts run two stories, so the gear goes upstairs to reach bedroom carpet, and on a sloped lot the walk from where we park can be longer.
Soiling is the other variable, and the foothills add to it. Oak and pine debris tracked in from outside grinds into entry carpet and rugs near the door, and dry-season dust settles into fabric across the house. Sofas, armchairs, dining chairs and mattresses can be done on the same visit.
The equipment needs both water and power at the property, which matters for a vacant acreage home or a cottage between tenants. Tell us the size of the carpet and how soiled it is, and ask first about any rug we have not seen.
