Little shade, less moss
Moss takes hold in shade, and Vineyard has less of it than older parts of the metro. The landscaping in its new communities has not had years to grow in, so few roofs sit under mature trees the way they do in established neighborhoods like nearby Rosemont. Most Vineyard roofs need moss work less often as a result.
Where growth does show up, the method is the same as anywhere else. Heavy moss is brushed off by hand, then the whole roof is treated so lichen and small moss die at the root. Over the following weeks the dead growth blows off in the wind, and we come back to check the result ourselves. A pressure washer never goes near the shingles, even on a new roof.
Newer Vineyard homes are also more likely to have solar from the original build. Cleaning the panels is a separate service, and so is clearing gutters of the construction debris that blows around new sections.
