Glass by the river
Humidity off the Sacramento River is the main local factor. Moist air holds dust against the glass, and in the dry season the usual valley dust lands on top, so West Sacramento windows tend to show a film rather than loose dirt. Exterior glass is washed from the ground with a water-fed pole and filtered, softened water, which rinses that film off without leaving spots.
The housing decides the rest. Older Broderick and Bryte homes are mostly single-story, so every pane is within easy reach from the ground, and their original tracks tend to hold more packed dirt. Glass, doors and screens are cleaned by hand, with a long pole and a damp cloth for anything high.
