Moss under the canyon trees
American River Canyon hillside homes are the hardest roofs we clean in Folsom. Height and pitch both climb on a canyon lot, and both are part of the price. The tree cover adds shade, and shade is where moss grows fastest.
Historic Folsom's older cottages near Sutter Street sit in the middle. Their established roofs are old enough to carry real growth, and we check whether it is raised moss, flat lichen or both before choosing the treatment.
Folsom Ranch is the other end of the scale. New roofs there have barely any years of exposure, so moss and lichen are rarely a concern yet. Empire Ranch and Broadstone homes, twenty to thirty years old, are worth a look where trees shade part of the roof. On the closer-set lots in those neighborhoods, anything that falls onto a neighbor's property is cleaned up too.

Likely, yes. Height, pitch and shade are all factors, and canyon homes tend to rate higher on all three than a flatter, more open lot elsewhere in Folsom.
We just built in Folsom Ranch. Do we need this service yet?
Probably not for a while. New roofs have not had the exposure that lets moss and lichen take hold, so the service rarely applies until the home has aged.
Do you use a pressure washer on Folsom roofs?
No. Pressure washing strips the protective granules off shingles, so heavy moss is brushed off by hand and the rest of the roof is treated to kill growth at the root.
